Network Advisory – Anticipated High Network Usage During FIFA World Cup 2026

Advisory Period: June 11, 2026 – July 19, 2026

As part of our commitment to transparency and network performance, Wakey would like to advise customers of several upcoming periods where elevated internet usage may occur across our network and those of our upstream network partners.

Major international sporting events, particularly FIFA World Cup matches, have historically generated significant increases in streaming and internet traffic. While our network and partner networks are designed to accommodate substantial demand, short periods of increased congestion may occur during high-viewership events.

Based on historical usage trends and anticipated viewership, the following matches have been identified as potential periods of elevated network activity:

Saturday, June 13, 2026

- 9:00 PM PT

- Australia vs. Turkey

Sunday, June 21, 2026

- 6:00 PM PT

- New Zealand vs. Egypt

Friday, June 26, 2026

- 8:00 PM PT

  • New Zealand vs. Belgium

What Customers May Experience

During these periods, some customers may experience:

- Increased latency

- Reduced throughput during peak demand

- Longer buffering times on streaming services

- Temporary performance impacts on latency-sensitive applications

Please note that these timeframes are advisory only. Network behaviour during live events can be difficult to predict, and elevated traffic levels may also occur during other FIFA World Cup matches throughout the tournament.

Our Network Operations team and upstream partners will be actively monitoring network performance throughout the tournament and will take reasonable measures to manage capacity and minimize congestion where possible.
