Status: Resolved
Start Time: Approximately 10:52 AM PST
Resolved Time: Approximately 11:43 AM PST
Regions Impacted: Select areas across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba
Last Updated: 12/12/2025 – 11:06 AM PST
Incident Summary
At approximately 10:52 AM PST, we observed that network traffic was no longer routing correctly between Wakey Internet and our last-mile vendor, Rogers. This resulted in a loss of connectivity for customers served by the affected network.
Our team immediately engaged both our vendor and internal network operations. A fix was implemented at the network switch level, and service was fully restored by approximately 11:43 AM PST.
Impact
-
Customers in affected regions may have experienced a loss of connection or intermittent service

Thank you for your patience and understanding while this issue was addressed.
— Wakey Internet Network Operations
Status: Active
Impact Area: Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba (All Regions)
Due to significant customer growth combined with increased seasonal demand during the holidays, some customers may experience slower-than-usual speeds in select regions during peak usage periods.
This is most noticeable during evening peak hours (5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., local time) when overall network usage is highest.
We’ve engaged our upstream vendor to order additional capacity, including two (2) new 100G network links, and are actively working with our last-mile network partner, Rogers, to facilitate this expansion as quickly as possible.
At this time, an estimated time of resolution (ETA) is not available, as the upgrade is currently in progress with our vendor partners.
What to Expect
-
Intermittent slower speeds primarily during evening peak hours
-
Some regions may experience more impact than others
-
No outage risk — service remains online, with temporary throughput constraints
Action Required
No action is required at this time.
We will continue to monitor performance and provide updates as additional capacity comes online.

Service Interruption | Some parts of Winnipeg (Buchanan)
Impacted services: Internet
Cause: Technical
Current status: Technicians to repair overnight, next update in morning (updated 10:50 p.m. CT)
Date: October 27 – November 5, 2025
Impact Window: Approximately 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. local time
Regions Affected: All Cable Internet service areas (AB, BC, SK, MB, ON)
Status: Active – Monitoring
Overview:
Our last-mile vendor has advised that customers may experience temporary congestion and slower-than-usual speeds during evening peak hours while major live events — including the World Series and other high-viewership broadcasts — are taking place.
These slowdowns are the result of exceptionally high demand across the national network, particularly in regions where multiple households stream the same live content simultaneously. This can cause brief periods of reduced throughput on shared infrastructure during the busiest times.
What to Expect:
-
Noticeably slower speeds or buffering between 5 p.m. – 11 p.m.
-
Most impact seen when streaming live HD/4K content
-
Performance returns to normal during off-peak hours
-
No customer action required
Resolution:
Engineering teams have confirmed that network performance should normalize by the first week of November as usage stabilizes following these national events. Wakey’s Network Operations Team continues to monitor performance across all regions and will share updates as needed.

A strong storm is forecast for the coast of BC. People in coastal regions and Vancouver Island can expect strong winds starting Tuesday afternoon through to Wednesday morning. Some areas could also see heavy rain at times.
Storms like this, that pick up strength quickly, are informally called bomb cyclones. While the name sounds alarming, they happen fairly often. The severity of their impact depends on how close they get to land. This storm is expected to be strong, but to stay offshore.
Even so, power outages in parts of BC are likely and BC Ferries expects to have to cancel some sailings. Make sure you have a plan for power outages and check conditions before you travel.
In event of Hydro/Power related issues, your Wakey Internet Services may be interrupted. Wakey and our Last-mile Carrier partners will continue to monitor and will do our best to plan ahead for minimal impacts to our services. In event of outages, we anticipate BC Hydro will diligently work to restore services when safe and possible.
